Cookies Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on the Happy Tree Games website (happytreegames.com) and in the Happy Tree Games mobile games, and how you can control them. The controller is Imre FARKAS, a private individual from Odorheiu Secuiesc, Romania (hello@emmawolf.com). More about how we handle personal data is in our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies are the local storage of a browser or an app, and the identifiers that software development kits (SDKs) inside an app read from or store on your device. Under EU and Romanian law (Law no. 506/2004), such information may be stored on or read from your device without your consent only when this is strictly necessary for a service you requested; for any other purpose your consent is needed.
2. Cookies on our website
The website itself sets only the following first-party cookies, which are needed for it to work. They are not used for advertising or to track you on other websites.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_sw_lasturi | Remembers the last page you opened on the site, so that you can be returned to it (for example after signing in or when continuing on another device). | 15 days |
logon | Keeps you signed in, only if you sign in with an Emma Wolf ID. It is cleared when you sign out. | 1 year, or until you sign out |
localStorage | Stores your site preferences only when your browser does not allow local storage (a technical fallback). | 1 year |
Legal basis: these cookies are strictly necessary, so no consent is required (Art. 4(5) of Law no. 506/2004).
Third-party services on the website
- Google Fonts: the fonts are loaded from Google's servers; Google receives your IP address, but no cookies are set for this.
- PayPal: the donation button image is loaded from PayPal. If you use the button, PayPal sets its own cookies on its website under its own cookie policy.
- Support form: our help desk (osticket.emmawolf.com) sets a session cookie (
OSTSESSID) while you fill in a support request. It is strictly necessary and expires after 24 hours. - Disqus: the comment section of the community page is provided by Disqus, Inc. When you open that page, Disqus may set its own cookies, including for analytics and advertising, under its own privacy policy. The other pages do not load Disqus.
3. Technologies in our games
3.1 Local storage of the app (strictly necessary)
The games store your results, settings, an unfinished game and a counter for the timing of advertisements in the app's local storage on your device. This information never leaves your device and is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall the game.
3.2 Google Mobile Ads SDK (free editions only, consent-based)
The free editions contain the Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google AdMob). It reads your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or on iOS the IDFA if you allow tracking) and stores data on your device to deliver, limit the frequency of and measure advertisements, and, if you agree, to personalise them. Your consent choice is collected through Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) and stored on your device in the standard IAB Transparency & Consent Framework format, so that you are not asked again every time.
You can change your choice at any time with the privacy settings button on the game's information (About) screen. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device settings, and on iOS allow or deny tracking under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
3.3 Plus editions
The Plus editions contain no advertising SDK and no tracking technology. On Apple devices they use Game Center, whose data is handled by Apple.
4. How to control cookies
- All modern browsers let you view, block and delete cookies in their settings. If you block the strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the website (for example signing in) may not work.
- In the games, use the privacy settings button and the privacy settings of your device, as described above.
5. Changes and contact
We update this policy whenever we change the cookies or technologies we use. If you have a question, write to hello@emmawolf.com.
